Meet My Characters: Bria Sullivan

Meet My Characters: Bria Sullivan

Today, I am starting a new series on my blog called Meet My Characters! For the next few months, I am going to introduce you to some of my main characters in my writings. This month’s character is Bria Sullivan from The Sullivan Six.

Bria’s Character Board

About Bria:

Bria Sullivan is thirteen years old and the oldest of the Sullivan kids. She is homeschooled and recently finished 8th grade. She was adopted by the Sullivans after being placed in foster care as a toddler when her single mom passed away. She was 3 when she moved in with the Sullivans, and they adopted her two years later. The Sullivans taught her about Jesus’ love for her, and she became a Christian. As the oldest child, she is very protective of her younger adoptive siblings and always looking out for them. Her favorite things to do include spending time with her family and friends, reading, writing her own stories, and painting. At the beginning of The Sullivan Six, she is looking forward to going to a summer family camp with her family and others from the church; she can’t wait to make some new friends and do all of the fun arts and crafts activities!

Five Random Facts about Bria:

1. She was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 2.

2. She is learning American Sign Language for fun.

3. She enjoys being outside and has her own flower garden. She also enjoys helping Mrs. Harmon, their elderly next-door neighbor, with her garden.

4. She is an ENFP personality type.

5. Her best friend is her cousin Elsie. Elsie is Mr. Sullivan’s sister’s daughter, and their family lives on a farm out in the country, which the Sullivans frequently visit.

A Scene with Bria:

Bria sat down at her art corner in their room. She had a painting she was working on, a picture of Rocky that she was painting for Mrs. Harmon’s upcoming birthday. She had painted most of his body, and it looked just like him, the perfect shades of brownish-orange and dirty white. She was onto painting his face now, but she was struggling to capture the playful look in his eyes.

After a little bit of time spent on his facial features, she took a step back and examined her painting. Yes, it was looking quite Rocky-like now. The extra white paint that made his eyes sparkle had helped. She showed Juliana her work-in-progress. Juliana squealed in delight. “Oh my, that’s so cute, Bria!” she enthused. “That looks just like Rocky!”

“Thanks. The eyes took some work, but I think I finally got it.”

“I think they look perfect! Aww, Mrs. Harmon is going to love it! Thanks for doing that, Bria!”

“Of course! It’s been a lot of fun, and a good challenge. I don’t paint animals very often.”

“You should paint them more; you do a really good job.”

Bria already knew what she could do for Juliana’s next birthday. A painting of horses would make the perfect present for her sister. Taking mental note of that, she decided to finish up with her art supplies for the day. She brought her paintbrushes over to the bathroom to wash them out in the sink then went back to her room and put the paints and brushes away.

Thank you for reading this post! I hope you enjoyed getting to know Bria better, and I’m excited to share about more of my characters next month! In the meantime, I hope to hear from you in the comments, and I will be back next week with a book review!
