March 2026 Wrap-Up

March 2026 Wrap-Up

Hello, everyone! Today, I’m going to be sharing about how my March went! This month had a lot of ups and downs, but God is good!

Life Updates

  • The beginning of the month was very busy for me with school-related stuff. I spent a lot of time on studying literacy, rhetoric, and how to teach social studies, writing various papers and annotated bibliographies, creating practice lesson plans, and studying for quizzes.
  • Unfortunately, I spent a good chunk of the month sick. I had a little cold at the beginning of the month, which didn’t affect my routines too much, but I came down with influenza towards the middle of the month. It was a good couple of weeks before I was feeling better. Because of this, I didn’t get as much done as I had hoped for, but at least the majority of this was over my spring break, so I didn’t have to miss too much school and was able to get some rest.
  • I participated in the King’s Daughters Writing Camp for the fourth time! Because of the aforementioned sickness, I didn’t get nearly as much writing done as I had hoped for, and I wasn’t as active in the camp, but I was still able to reach my (lowered) goal!

Writing Updates

This month didn’t turn out how I expected writing-wise. I had initially set a goal of writing 10,000 words for KDWC, focusing on my WWII Swan’s Island short story. After getting sick and not having made a significant amount of progress towards my goal yet due to busyness with school, I realized that wasn’t going to happen and lowered my goal to 5,000 words. I was getting hesitant about even reaching that when the end of camp was drawing close and I was getting busy with school again, but by the grace of God, I was able to write over 2,500 words on the last day of Camp and reached my goal of 5,000!

I focused solely on my short story WIP, and I am now about three-quarters of the way done with the first draft! It’s definitely going to need a lot of work after that since this draft is more of me just brainstorming (I don’t really do outlines), but hopefully it will all come together! I also joined the Quality Writing Challenge, a challenge to write for a certain amount of time every day for the month of April to build consistency, so I am hoping that will help me get this draft finished up and get started with editing!

Total word count for the month: 5,104

Etsy Updates

Between all of my school assignments and being sick, my Etsy shop unfortunately didn’t receive much attention last month. I did list a couple of new items, though: an Easter bucket list for families and Resurrection-themed Bible verse cards!

Books I Read

I was able to finish 4 books in March. These books were:

Here’s my reading wrap-up from the StoryGraph (sorry, I don’t know why it looks squished😂)!

Favorites This Month

Book: My favorite book I read in March was The Moffats by Eleanor Estes! I always enjoy stories centered around families, and this classic middle grade story about the Moffat family was so sweet and fun, and I loved Estes’ writing style. You can read more of my thoughts in my review here.

Blog Post: I enjoyed reading Kate Willis’ (from Once Upon an Ordinary) post, A Non-Exhaustive Middle-Grade Book Gift Guide. It is a great list of book ideas for a wide variety of middle grade readers. As a middle grade reader and writer, I also enjoyed looking at the book recommendations myself; I always enjoy hearing or reading about new middle grade book suggestions, and there were a lot of fun ones here!

Bible Verse/Passage: Recently, I read Psalm 27, which is full of so many good, encouraging verses! Here are a few:

The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? (v. 1)

One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple. (v. 4)

I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. (v. 13, 14)
