Meet My Characters: Kiara Sullivan

Meet My Characters: Kiara Sullivan

Hello, everyone! Today I am going to be sharing about the final Sullivan sibling, nine-year-old Kiara Sullivan!

About Kiara:

Kiara Jade Sullivan is nine years old, and she is excited to start 4th grade in the fall. School hasn’t always been easy for her, but she is learning to enjoy it with the help of Mrs. Sullivan’s patient homeschooling and her reading tutors. Kiara was placed in foster care as an infant when her young mother was unable to care for her. She was in one foster home prior to the Sullivans, which she does not remember. She was placed with the Sullivans when she was two years old, and they adopted her three years later. Now, Kiara is a happy, spunky young girl who loves going on adventures and isn’t afraid to share her opinions. She is always up for trying something new, but as of the start of The Sullivan Six, her current interests include mysteries and detectives, photography, and singing.

Five Random Facts about Kiara:

1. She has dyslexia and dyspraxia.

2. She is known in her family for always being a bundle of energy.

3. She loves candy and anything sweet.

4. Her favorite color is green, and her favorite gemstone is a jade, because Jade is her middle name.

5. When she grows up, she wants to either be a singer or a nature photographer.

A Scene with Kiara:

Kiara awoke early the morning the family had been planning on leaving for their family camp. She snuck downstairs quietly, not wanting to wake anyone who might still be sleeping.

Kiara was feeling very thirsty, so she went to the kitchen to get a glass of water. She was surprised to find her mom sitting on one of the kitchen chairs, writing something down in a notebook. “Hey, Kiara,” Mrs. Sullivan greeted. “You’re up early.”

“Yeah, I know. I needed to get a drink of water.” She opened up a cabinet and grabbed down a plastic cup, filled it with water from the sink, and drank a few sips. She then made her way over to a chair next to her mom. “What are you doing, Mom?”

“Well, I know we weren’t planning on doing much for Dad’s 40th birthday tomorrow because we were going to be at family camp, but now I’m thinking we should plan some sort of celebration for him. I was writing down a list of ideas for things we could do.”

“I think we should have a surprise party!” Kiara had always loved the idea of surprise parties, but she had never had the chance to go to one herself, much less help plan one.

“That’s a good idea! Maybe we could invite Grandma and Grandpa and Aunt Betsie and her family to come, too. How about we discuss it with the others after Dad leaves for work?”

Kiara nodded her head enthusiastically. “I think that would be awesome! We could have lots of food, and games, and I could help make decorations!” She squealed in excitement. “This is going to be so much fun!”

Thank you for reading; I hope you enjoyed getting to know a little more about Kiara Sullivan! I will be back next Monday with a book review. Until then, feel free to leave a message in the comments. I would love to hear from you!
